The pandemic and Coronavirus restrictions have left many women have had to give birth alone, without their support network of friends and family to support them.

In addition to this, it was shown that only 1 in 10 parents with children under two saw a health visitor face-to-face during the pandemic. This increased isolation and separation from any outside support, has had a huge impact on the mental health of parents raising a new born baby during the pandemic.

One YMCA designed a 3-week Baby Social & Play group to identify an unmet social need amongst under ones and their parents. These sessions were planned to incorporate social time, singing time and teaching for the parents on the 5 building blocks for developing “My babyโ€™s brain” (Respond, Relax, Talk, Cuddle and Play).

Help us to support new parents and reduce the isolation and loneliness of the last 6 months.
